Trusting God In A Season Of Waiting

Trusting God in a season of waiting can be so hard sometimes, especially if you are also experiencing disappointment in this season. Please be encouraged and know that you are not alone. Even though we don’t always understand His ways…God is with us.

Isaiah 55:9

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Here are some things I believe we must remind ourselves as we walk through seasons of waiting.

GOD IS STILL FAITHFUL

Maybe you are waiting to see an answer to prayer come to pass, waiting for direction from God, or even for Him to bring spiritual breakthrough. Maybe you are someone who’s been praying for the same thing time and time again, petitioning God to move His hand on your behalf. Well, I’m right there with you…My husband and I have been praying for a child 713 days, about 2 years now (the waiting). Within that time we lost a precious baby named Jordan (the disappointment).

We continue to cling to the fact that God IS still faithful. When we are confused and don’t understand, we can trust His character because He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is faithful to be our strength when we are weak, to never leave us or forsake us.

Deuteronomy 32:4

“The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.”

Jeremiah 17:7-8

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

If you’re struggling to trust God in this season remember that you can ask the Holy Spirit to help you and He will do just that.

DON’T ALLOW YOUR EMOTIONS TO LEAD YOU

Emotions are so fleeting yet they can seem like giants pulling at us. In times where we feel defeated, disappointed or doubtful it can be easy to become distant from God. I want to encourage you to push through those emotions and worship God anyways. Our emotions are not trustworthy but God is. So worship! And allow your emotions to catch up to you.

Jeremiah 17:9

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”

Psalm 43:5

“Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.”

If you’re someone who is still worshiping, praying, serving and seeking God in the midst of waiting…you are going to be a testimony of His faithfulness and grace to those who are watching you. You are building faith in others for when they may go through a valley because they saw you remain faithful in yours. God will use your faithfulness to minister to the hearts of others.

Proverbs 3:5

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.”

CONTINUE TO SEEK GOD/KEEP ASKING

We must remember to keep running after God in the midst of waiting. Trials will come and He promises to be with us. Take Paul and Silas for example. They were thrown in prison for following Jesus. In their prison cell they begin to worship God, their chains fall off and people get radically saved. Like what?!

Matthew 7:7-8

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”

For those going through a season of waiting, let this be the time you press into God all the more. You only have everything to gain in doing so. God is not afraid of your doubts. He literally promises that you WILL find Him if you seek Him. He is there even when you feel like His hand is invisible.
